John has been gigging for the last 15 years and playing the guitar for the last 15 years and one month. Once harboured a desire to play the trumpet but this passed after he stopped watching Coronation Street. Influenced by Cream, The Yardbirds, BB King, Weezer and those two bass players out of Ned's Atomic Dustbin, John has had to forget everything he ever learned in order to play other people's songs properly - a prerequisite for playing in a covers band.
Also married in 2009 (although not to Emma, that would just be weird) John, originally from Redditch in Worcestershire, now lives in Leicester and works in ladies' accessories (actually with the product, rather than wearing them. Having had difficulties coming to terms with turning 30, John tried to deal with this milestone by buying guitars and, at one point, owned 16 guitars, but common sense prevailed and he is now down to just 4 and has far less to trip over as a result. John started playing in bands at school, including the school's jazz band, and has played many styles of music in many bands, including hard rock, rock 'n' roll, indie, folk and for the briefest of moments, even country. He has also played on a charity record (although not with James) and and was featured on Sky TV and Channel 4 soundtracks with the Leicester band '27brigade'.
John is 50% Irish and claims the other 50% to be a mixture of Melton Mowbray pork pies, cakes and export strength lager and lists "sitting" and "lying down" as his primary hobbies (although stil classes playing and collecting guitars as a hobby along with his attempts at photography). John also has an interest in expensive Swiss watches, although this interest doesn't extend sufficiently enough to be able to buy one. John favours Telecaster style guitars and always has to have one in his collection, havng recently made the switch from Gibson Les Pauls, having owned several along with a couple of Gibson 335s and some SGs. John is also the most talented and handsome member of the band and happens to be in charge of editing the website!
