James S Roberts - Guitar/Vocals

Leicestershire born and bred, James was born into a family of guitarists and eats a handful of gravel for breakfast everyday to give him his trademark growl. James's main influences include Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Eddie Van Halen, Al Green and Free and it is clear that some of his heroes' style has rubbed off on him. James has played in numerous covers and originals bands, starting at age 13 in garage rock band "Stone Age Chewing Gum". The genre "Garage Rock" was applied because the band never actually made it out of the garage. More recently he has been playing lead guitar in local bands and has also appeared on two successful charity records.

James is the clever one in the band and our resident Countdown champion, appearing on Countdown in 2007, becoming an "Octochamp" and successfully flirting with Carol Vorderman before being beaten in the quarter-final by a 5 year old genius on the conundrum "Scooby Doo".

As well as being the cleverest, at 6'7", James is the baby of the band (sorry, in age anyway!), lives with his long suffering girlfriend and when he's not playing the guitar, can be found on the cricket pitch or at your buffet table. He claims to be quite stupid and once ate 2 metres of sausage for a dare, but has not specified whether this was of chipolata circumference or something more substantial. James remains the last single member of the band and has been issued with a 'get married or get out' ultimatum. Fortunately for James, sacking him would mean having to reshoot all of the photographs and we can't really be bothered.

James plays a very rare Odyssey G200WS guitar - possibly the only one in the world due to its left-handed construction.

James's gear:

Odyssey G200WS electric guitar;

Gordon-Smith GS-1.5 electric guitar;

Marshall JCM2000 TSL122 amp;

Dod FX digital delay pedal.
